A Clear Day and Crisp East Wind in January

Just wanted to tease you a bit. We went out yesterday and got the worst kind of east wind. The tide was going out and the current was running strong so even though we had about 7 or 8 knots wind, we would tack across to the red buoy and then tack back across river right back to the mouth of Hayden Bay. We spent the whole afternoon sailing upwind against a cold east wind and got nowhere. Then just to add insult a big Hunter sailboat, I think Wild Child, came out of Hayden Bay and totally smoked us. We were so embarrassed. But hey, we got the laundry hung up and aired it out in the sun, so we’ll log it as a January sail :~)
